SIBUR completes the sale of SIBUR GEOSINT to TehPolimer Group.

In April 2017, SIBUR completed the sale of its SIBUR GEOSINT production site in Kemerovo to TehPolimer Group, one of Russia’s largest geosynthetics producers.

The deal is in line with SIBUR's strategy to prioritise the development of bulk polymer production. Plastik-Geosintetika, SIBUR GEOSINT’s facility in the town of Uzlovaya will, however, remain part of SIBUR.

SIBUR GEOSINT produces materials from the special grade of virgin polypropylene. Its products' high performance characteristics are due to the high quality of virgin feedstock, ensuring stable physical and mechanical properties and an excellent tensile strength. They have a longer service life compared to their polyether- and glass fiber-based counterparts. To produce geosynthetics, the company uses cutting-edge Italian equipment, along with spunbond (continuous filaments), thermal bonding and calendering technologies for non-woven fabrics, and extrusion for flat geogrids.

Plastik-Geosintetika runs a certified in-house central laboratory, whose specialists have an extensive expertise in testing geosynthetics, biaxially-oriented extruded geogrids, non-woven geotextile fabrics, geogrids for asphalt reinforcement, drainage geocomposites, geomats, geomembranes, etc. The laboratory is a success with clients. Accredited in 2013, it has quickly become a trusted and reputable service provider, with other geosynthetics producers coming in to test their materials.
