New antistatic agent tested

Brand-new antistatic agent was tested at SIBUR’s Perm site.

Germany-based Emery Oleochemicals has for several years been supplying a special antistatic agent for SIBUR's production of expandable polystyrene (EPS). In March, the supplier’s representatives visited SIBUR’s Perm site to test their new Emery MC 1101/3 antistatic agent boasting a number of advantages as compared to its predecessor, the key one being its environmental friendliness. This water-based agent is safe for use in contact with food, is neither toxic nor harmful to people’s health, and can be used without any special protective equipment.

Next steps include repeated testing of the second batch of the antistatic agent with adjusted properties and new recommendations for use expected to be delivered by the supplier soon.

“It is one thing when we as manufacturers know everything about the substance, its chemical properties, effect and reaction mechanism, and quite another when we understand how exactly the substance will be used and know the dosing conditions and equipment”, commented Konstantin Nikushev, Emery’s representative.

“It is important that our site is visited not only by sales managers, but also by process engineers,” said Dmitry Zernin, Chief Process Engineer at the Perm site. “On top of providing consulting support on their own products, they also share global petrochemical industry insights and advise on improvements of certain production processes. We use meetings with suppliers to define new areas for development and set the goals that will help us boost production efficiency and meet the needs of our clients. Their key takeaways are reflected in management initiatives which are then implemented at the site.”
