Meltblown production launched

Netkanika, Russia’s largest manufacturer off nonwoven materials, launches new production facility.

The company has completed preparatory work and is ready to bring a new product to the market. Meltblown (fine-grained nets of polypropylene fibres, which filter even the smallest bacteria) will become the fourth product in the company’s portfolio. Currently, Netkanika manufactures three types of medical-grade nonwoven fabric for the production of medical masks, single-use protective clothing and personal protective equipment for professionals and individuals. Netkanika’s meltblown meets the technical standards for the manufacture of respirators with filters and exhaust valves.

SIBUR and Netkanika became partners in 2019 and agreed to expand cooperation to provide the healthcare industry with high-quality single-use personal protective equipment in April. SIBUR agreed to supply polypropylene for medicinal and hygienic applications in the quantities required to fully utilise Netkanika’s production capacity.

“Soon, Netkanika will start supplying meltblown both to local and international customers. Prototypes have already shown outstanding performance, with material filtering the smallest organic and inorganic particles and meeting the highest international standards. Currently, facility personnel are developing regulatory documentation, specifications for finished products and equipment testing. Following the completion of these tasks, the facility will ramp up to commercial production of meltblown,” said Rifkat Galimzyanov, General Manager of Netkanika.

Netkanika is Russia’s major manufacturer of high-quality nonwoven materials used to produce baby and adult hygiene products, single-use personal protective equipment, mattresses and spring blocks, as well as heat, moisture and windproof membranes. Netkanika’s annual production capacity amounts to more than 1 billion sq m of materials.
