Pirelli assigns SIBUR’s Togiliatti site the highest supplier rating.

A major world’s tyre company, the Italian Pirelli has conducted an audit of SIBUR’s Togliatty site for compliance with the German VDA 6.3 standard. The standard was developed by Germany’s Union of Automakers and must be met by suppliers that work or would like to work with German automakers. The audit was performed by recommendation of Volkswagen.

The experts paid a visit to the production line for making isoprene rubber, which Pirelli purchases to make tyres at its tyre plants in Voronezh and Kirov. The auditors also visited the finished goods storage facilities, assessed the performance of the plant laboratory, the metrology service, production control and engineering units.

Following the audit, the Togliatti site got a score of 95% out of 100% and was rated as a certified supplier. “The plant is constantly working to improve its QA processes. Our personnel have become more engaged, there is a system of key performance indicators in place, we practise statistical production process management, especially for the processes that determine the rubber viscosity, which is a critical parameter for us,” says Yekaterina Shchegoleva, Head of Supplier Audit and Incoming Inspection Unit at Pirelli’s Voronezh plant.
