“Planet Earth. See You Tomorrow”

Channel One ran a premiere broadcast of a new documentary by Valdis Pelsh titled “Planet Earth. See You Tomorrow”.

The documentary “Planet Earth. See You Tomorrow” sponsored by State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom is dedicated to technologies of the future. Georg Wiessmeier, SIBUR’s Head of R&D and Innovation, took part in the production. In his opinion, the evolving technologies will let people forget the functionality of materials in the past.

In the circular economy, used materials will be recreated in their initial form

For example, it will be possible to recycle plastic waste into high-quality feedstock, and recycled plastic tableware will be good enough not only to make granules for road construction, but also to manufacture exactly the same tableware. In the circular economy, used materials will be recreated in their initial form.

“Recycling accumulator batteries is a challenging task, but it is possible already today, – Georg Wiessmeier said. – As electronic vehicles are gaining popularity, the battery disposal technologies are developing. There are companies in Europe—and their number is growing rapidly—that specialize in recycling electronics and power sources”.

Other experts featuring in the documentary were Nobel Peace Prize winner Terry Callaghan, researcher and UN expert on global climate change; Alexander Mazhuga, Doctor of Chemistry, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Rector of D. Mendeleyev University of Chemical Technology of Russia; and others.
