Russia’s first ever compliance conference

On 27 July 2020, SIBUR and the Russian Business Ethics Network hosted the first international compliance conference in Russia.

Held online, the Ethics and Compliance in the Oil and Gas Industry conference brought together speakers and participants to discuss the latest developments in compliance in Russia and abroad.

Participants also reviewed several legal topics in detail, including the most common violations of the law, the largest fines, judicial practice and anti-corruption initiatives of companies in the sector, as well as the role of government in setting the anti-corruption regulatory framework.

The conference brought together more than 80 representatives of Russian and international companies (Gazprom, LUKOIL, Schlumberger, SOCAR, etc.) and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Russia.

Vladimir Razumov, Deputy Chairman of PJSC SIBUR Holding Management Board, opened the conference. In his opening remarks, he spoke about the importance of building a corporate compliance culture that has a direct impact on a company’s performance in the market.

“We believe that the next step in enhancing compliance is to pool efforts of various companies in the sector to identify and solve problems together,” added Alexey Kozlov, Member of the Management Board – Managing Director at PJSC SIBUR Holding. “Therefore, the time to consider pooling efforts has already come. Today’s conference, where we can share practices and opinions, is a good start.”
