ART THAT KEEPS THE CITY WARM

SIBUR supports the opening of the Moscow That Keeps You Warm. Season Two exhibition of EPS objets d’art.

The best projects of the Moscow That Keeps You Warm. Season Two modern art and design creativity competition taking place supported by SIBUR, are shown in Moscow museums and in the Red Square. All objects d’art are made from expandable polystyrene (EPS), an environmentally friendly and energy efficient material that is widely used by modern artists due to its plasticity, light weight and expression.

The works of art will be exhibited during September and October. Among other things, the project includes an art quest

A total of 11 museums and historic landmarks have been chosen to exhibit the shortlisted pieces of art. These include the State History Museum, its branches in the Holy Virgin Intercession Cathedral (St. Basil’s Cathedral), the Museum of the Romanovs’ Chambers, the 1812 Patriotic War Museum, the Artillery Yard, the Museum of Moscow, the Museum of V. Tropinin and Moscow Artists of His Time, the M. Shchepkin House Museum (a branch of the A. Bakhrushin State Theatre Museum), the M. Yermolova House Museum (a branch of the A. Bakhrushin State Theatre Museum), the Memorial Workshop Museum of Sculptor A. Golubkina (a branch of the State Tretyakov Gallery), and the A. Gorky House Museum (Ryabushinsky’s Mansion).

All the objects d’art taking part in the competition are made of EPS

A comment by Pavel Lyakhovich, SIBUR’s Managing Director and Head of the Plastics, Elastomers and Organic Synthesis Division. “SIBUR supports various cultural initiatives, and the second season of the competition, in my opinion, helps to encourage public interest in the historical and cultural heritage of Moscow. We are happy that universal properties of expandable polystyrene allow artists to embody their most daring conceptions while expressing a reverential attitude to the capital city’s past and present that we all share.”
