SIBUR International in Istanbul

SIBUR’s Turkish subsidiary has moved to a new office.

The new SIBUR International Trading office is located in Levent, Istanbul’s main business district, close to the bridges over the Bosporus. Previously, the company’s office was near Istanbul Atatürk Airport – convenient for visitors to the branch. But in April 2019 the airport moved to another location. The logistics between our regional clients and the office became quite complicated. It was high time for us to relocate.

We have already launched our e-commerce digital platform for partners, which offers fast and user-friendly electronic document management via the client’s personal account. We are also working on remote technical support for our products using VR glasses

“The Istanbul office was opened in 2013 to facilitate the sales of polypropylene from the new facility in Tobolsk,” said Sergey Grebenev, Head of Sales at SIBUR Istanbul Uluslararasi Tic. Ltd. Sti. “Our goal was to bring the core range of SIBUR’s trademark, high-quality polypropylene grades to the Turkish market. Looking back at what has been achieved, we clearly see that building on our successful positioning of Tobolsk polymers, the products have found their market niche. Later, in 2019, SIBUR launched a new polyolefin facility in Tobolsk producing 500 ktpa of polypropylene and 1,500 ktpa of polyethylene. Our supplies to the local market have grown. We believe that the move to the new office will help to deliver our sales plans for the Turkish market and beyond, by leveraging advanced IT solutions. Already this year, SIBUR’s Istanbul office increased its polymer sales almost fivefold, intending to boost them eightfold in 2021 compared to 2019. SIBUR is planning to launch Amur GCC in the not-too-distant future, with a capacity of 400 ktpa of polypropylene and 2.3 mtpa of polyethylene. With such a dramatic output growth, we need to develop continuously, building new customer relations in this operating region. Apart from Turkey, our sales are also growing in India, Israel and in African countries, energising us to step up our efforts.”

“SIBUR has been traditionally present in Turkey both in polymers and in liquid chemicals”, added Andrey Frolov, CEO at SIBUR International GmbH. “For example, we comfortably occupied a niche in the acrylate market last year. Next year, we are planning to launch a new maleic anhydride facility to supply the Turkish market. The difficult year of 2020 and the rapidly changing overall global situation bring new challenges for the Company: we need to be more flexible, agile and customer-oriented, offering high-quality, marketable services. We have already launched our e-commerce digital platform for partners, which offers fast and user-friendly electronic document management via the client’s personal account. We are also working on remote technical support for our products using VR glasses. I am firmly convinced that SIBUR’s presence in Turkey has long-term benefits for all of us. I hope this office becomes our new home for many successful years to come. You are always welcome to come and visit!”
