“We continue building new facilities”

In his exclusive interview for Russia–24, <b>Mikhail Karisalov,</b> Chairman of the Management Board and CEO of SIBUR, looks back at 2018 highlights and shares details on digitalisation initiatives at SIBUR.


2018 was extremely fruitful for both the Company and the industry as a whole. According to Mikhail Karisalov, this is a result of long-term trends for the replacement of conventional materials and the import substitution policy.

After ZapSibNeftekhim is launched, the share of Russian polyethylene and polypropylene in certain industries may be as high as 85%.

Russia's polymer landscape will also be greatly impacted by the launch of ZapSibNeftekhim. Its product range will be adjusted to support import substitution to the fullest extent possible and create extra opportunities for the domestic processing companies. After the facility is launched, the share of Russian polyethylene and polypropylene in certain industries may be as high as 85%. In addition, the Company intends to promote its exports, which are expected to total some RUB 140 bn.

In his interview, Mr Karisalov also elaborated on the digitalisation of SIBUR. Today, it spans several dozen of automation and analytics projects. The drive for digitalisation also affects the Company’s major investment projects. In particular, should the Amur GCC project be rolled out, it will involve the world's best digital solutions.
