Rubber grades win a contest

Products of SIBUR’s Krasnoyarsk facility have ranked among the 100 Best Goods of Russia.


Four grades of nitrile rubber (NBR) made at SIBUR’s Krasnoyarsk facility have won awards and diplomas at the nationwide stage of the 100 Best Goods of Russia contest.

NBRs are known for their strong resistance to aggressive environments. NBR-based products are widely used in the automotive and aircraft industries (one example is sealings for fuel tanks and windows) and gain increasing popularity among the manufacturers of agricultural and other equipment. Krasnoyarsk Synthetic Rubbers Plant (KSRP), Russia's only producer of special purpose NBRs, is a highly competitive international player exporting 75% of its output to some 34 countries (mainly the EU, China and India).

NBR-based products are widely used in the aircraft industry.

In 2013, SIBUR and Sinopec created a rubber production joint venture at Krasnoyarsk Synthetic Rubbers Plant.

On 14 December 2018, winners of the 100 Best Goods of Russia contest received their awards in Krasnoyarsk. The ceremony was attended by Yevgeny Afanasiev, Minister of Industry, Energy, Housing and Utilities of the Krasnoyarsk Region.

“Since product quality is the key to commercial success, it was very important for us to win praise at both local and national levels. The reputation of the manufacturers (if not the entire region) builds on their quality management skills and the competitiveness of their products. This contest helps us join forces in pursuing national priorities, including the promotion of domestic products at a time when foreign trade restrictions make import substitution a necessity,” said Yevgeny Afanasiev.

SIBUR’s fast-curing synthetic nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) was granted a winner’s diploma and named the best New Product. Owing to its enhanced vulcanisation properties compared to traditional NBRs, this brand new grade ensures mould cleanliness, boosts equipment performance and offers greater environmental benefits. It is used to manufacture a wide range of industrial rubber products in the automotive, oil and other sectors.

Launched in 1998, the 100 Best Goods of Russia contest aims to encourage companies to improve the quality and competitiveness of domestic products and services.

SIBUR’s synthetic NBRs, NBR/PVC blends and powdered nitrile rubber also received the nationwide contest's diplomas in the nomination for Industrial and Technical Goods.

“Streamlined production processes, improved quality and enhanced product properties are the key factors defining the needs of today's rubber consumers globally, with the grade range also playing an important role.
