SIBUR’s Tver site launches new wastewater treatment facilities.

SIBUR’s Tver site is the only local producer of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a key component of modern polymer packaging. Products made at the 75 ktpa complex are widely used to manufacture packaging for drinking water, dairy products, juices, sunflower oil and many other goods.

The upgrade of wastewater treatment facilities was implemented as part of the national Year of Ecology and included in the initiative's official action plan. As a result, the PET production has become more environment-friendly. New facilities equipped with a state-of-the-art biological treatment system replaced the old ones, which had been in use for over ten years. The project received RUB 226 m of investments and took more than two years to complete.

The new advanced and highly automated facilities will ensure more efficient wastewater treatment.

The opening ceremony was attended by Alexei Kuzmin, Head of the Department for the Tver Region at the Federal Service for Supervision of Natural Resources, Lyudmila Khomenko, Head of the Administration of Tver’s Moscow District, Vladimir Razumov, Member of the Board of Directors at SIBUR, Pavel Lyakhovich, Member of the Management Board and Managing Director at SIBUR, as well as other representatives of SIBUR and the regional authorities.

“Making production more environmentally sustainable is a key priority for SIBUR. The new advanced and highly automated facilities will ensure more efficient wastewater treatment at SIBUR-PETF,” said Pavel Lyakhovich.
