K 2019

SIBUR presented new products and forged new partnerships at K 2019 Trade Fair.

K 2019, the World’s No. 1 Trade Fair for Plastics and Rubber was held in Düsseldorf (Germany) in October. The industry-leading event brings together a range of the very latest innovations from over 3,000 exhibitors from more than 60 countries.

This year, the spotlight was turned on circular economy. The special exhibition Plastics Shape the Future was dedicated to burning issues, such as packaging waste, marine litter and climate change on the one hand, and resource conservation, energy efficiency and recycling on the other. The Science Campus of K 2019 was set to establish a dialogue between science and industry, and sought to minimise the industry’s environmental impact.

SIBUR showcased PE and PP grades to be produced at ZapSibNeftekhim to its foreign customers and partners. New grades, including HDPE, LLDPE and PP copolymers will meet market demand in Russia and the CIS, and will also be exported to Europe, Turkey and China.

At the trade fair, SIBUR's experts attended the Reifenhäuser Technology Centre. Founded in 1911, Reifenhäuser Group is the leading provider of innovative technologies and components for plastics extrusion. The company supplied equipment for SIBUR’s PolyLab in Skolkovo (two film extrusion lines and a sheet line), and intends to engage in joint research with SIBUR here to manufacture polymers, films and nonwoven materials.

SIBUR’s and its partners’ joint search for new solutions is also essential for the industry’s sustainable development.

“Our industry is called upon to incorporate plastics into the Circular Economy. We bear co-responsibility for setting up collection systems to recycle plastic waste, minimise production waste, and make advances in new application fields, such as lightweight construction in the automotive industry. This is one of the reasons we are particularly delighted to cooperate with SIBUR. The company is testing new developments at its R&D centre and builds up capabilities for their recycling,” said Ulrich Reifenhäuser, CEO of the Reifenhäuser GmbH & Co.
